Frequently employed to support women's health, dong quai, or female ginseng, is a powerful herb considered one of the fifty fundamental herbs in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). A relative of the same family as parsley, carrot, and celery, this earthy, sweet tasting tea is also incorporated into health programs that seek ways to reduce inflammation, support the cardiovascular system, invigorate, and balance.
What is Dong Quai?
Many of the herbs cultivated in China today have a history of use going back thousands of years, and dong quai is no exception. Dong quai is an old and well-respected herb, and Dong Quai Tea can make a great addition to anyone's herbal tea collection. Formally known as Angelica sinensis, and nicknamed "female ginseng," dong quai is commonly found in cold, damp habitats in China, Japan, and Korea. Dong quai belongs to the same family as carrots, celery, parsley, and fennel. The edible part of the plant is its thick root, which creates an aromatic, subtly sweet tea that is often described as pleasant.
