Horsetail’s botanical name is Equisetum arvense; it is sometimes called field horsetail or mare’s tail. Horsetail is one of the oldest surviving plant species on Earth. These plants have been around for over 300 million years, dating back to the time of the dinosaurs. Horsetail plants are characterized by their unique, jointed stems, which resemble the tail of a horse (hence the name “horsetail”). The plant has a somewhat primitive structure and does not have flowers or seeds. Instead, it reproduces through spores.

In terms of uses, horsetail has been traditionally used in herbal medicine for its potential health benefits, such as supporting bone health, promoting hair growth, and acting as a natural diuretic. It’s also used in some cultures for its silica content, which is believed to help with skin and joint health.

As a dietary supplement, take 2 mL (66 drops) three (3) times a day in a small amount of water.
